The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia is looking for a Speech Writer (English)
This position will be instrumental in assisting the ministry reach out more effectively to the increasing number of target audiences by streamlining its messaging at a growing number of public events, media and other outreach activities.
Reporting lines: Reports to Director of Administration
Starting date: as soon as possible
Location: Tbilisi, Georgia
Principal responsibilities:
The primary focus will be on creating compelling written materials that effectively communicate Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development's priorities to a diverse group of target audiences.This would entail working on:
- Drafting of executive speeches and Op-eds (a key function)
- Drafting of articles for publications in mainstream and specialised publications/websites;
- Creation of general and thematic PowerPoint presentations;
- Assisting with the press release and statement drafting process;
Drafting of promotional materials;
Writing content for social media sites such as blogs or Twitter - Editing and/or updating materials/sections for the website ;
- Actively contribute to the creativity of the department’s work.
Required knowledge, experience and skills:
- Minimum of three years’ experience as a writer in an international or media organisation.
- Superior written communications in English;
- Superior ability to turn complex, technical language into accessible, compelling speeches, articles and other materials
- Speechwiriting experience is highly desired
- Excellent oral communications skills in English;
- Excellent creative/journalistic writing skills, and creative approach to communications.
- Editing and/or re-writing experience along with the ability to think creatively about re-packaging solutions
- Strong ability to adapt writing style to online and print materials
- Strong communications research and analytical skills, and ability to rapidly research, analyse and integrate diverse information from varied sources.
- Up-to-date knowledge of current affairs topics and issues.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of and interest in economics and sustainable development.
- Dynamic self starter; highly motivated, comfortable in taking initiative and able to work with minimum supervision.
- Ability to perform as part of a team under pressure.
- Organised, dependable, flexible, highly articulate and discreet.
