Department of urbanisation and construction Main functions of the department of urbanisation and construction, of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development are:

• Development, coordination and management of policies: urban development, territorial development and architectural-urban planning, construction activities, housing and communal infrastructure
• Support for integrated(general and complex) development of land use, planning and zoning for settlements and other territorial units, also for urban planning and zoning documents, methodological management  and supervision of implementation within the competence of the ministry
• Methodological supervision and/or management of territorial planning, architectural, construction-engineering sector regulation, preparation of design documentation, as it is stated by legislation
• Organisation and coordination of development of construction and design norms and rules
• Issuing construction permits and accepting construction works as fit for use, within its competence
• Organisation and coordination of development of country settlement systems and regional planning schemes
• Within the competence of the ministry involved in certification of construction and design specialists and construction products
• With its structural divisions prepares replies for any incoming letters an enquiries, by set rules
• Carries out other obligations set by legislation or ministerial order on the grounds of legislation.
