The Minister of Economic development of Georgia Zurab Pololikashvili visited the electric locomotive constructing factory together with the general director of LTD “Georgian Railroad” today, Fabruary 1, 2010.
The Minister together with the management of the factory examined the workshop where the locomotives of the “Georgian Railroad” will be fixed and renewed.
JSC “Elmavalmsheni” won the tender announced by the “Georgian Railroad” and received a 15.5 million order. 8 electric locomotives will be fixed for this money.
The agreement signed by the companies came in power today. 2 locomotives will enter the workshop at the first stage which will be fixed within the year. The other locomotives will be fixed stage by stage.
“Some of the compnies stopped fixing their locomotives in our workshop due to the economic crisis. This order is a guarantee that “elmavalmsheni” will be working on profit during 2010” – said the Minister Zurab Pololikashvili.
The Minister said that some innovations will be made in teh workshop; particularly the management of the workshop is negotating with a huge French operator in order to introduce new technological line in the workshop.
It is remarkabele that foreign countries reduced their orders for the workshop due to the economic crisis and it was under great danger and thanks to the order given by the “Georgian Railroad” the company continues functioning.
1343 people are employed by the workshop with the average salary 620 Gel. The main orders were given by “Georgian Raildroad.”
