Main functions of the Service for Trade Development with the EU MSs and other European countries are: 

 

  • Analyzing trade turnover and elaborating relevant recommendations with respect to the EU MSs and other European countries; 
  • Providing information services for business operators interested in trade relations with the EU MSs and other European countries, including the provision of information on trade preferences;
  • Exploring local markets of the EU MSs and other European countries, analyzing and preparing relevant recommendations for the expansion of country’s export potential and its optimal use;
  • Obtaining information regarding local business operators conducting export to the EU MSs and other European countries; registering and categorizing according to the fields of their activities, size and other relevant characteristics; 
  • Conducting consultations with business operators being in trade relations with the EU MSs and other European countries; identifying their problems and requirements, and proceeding accordingly, within the competence;  
  • Elaborating proposals and preparing reports for further improvement of legal basis in order to deepen bilateral trade-economic relations with the EU MSs and European countries; 
  • Working on the Bilateral Investment Treaties (BIT) with the EU MSs and other European countries;
  • Organizing bilateral Intergovernmental Economic Commission Sessions with the EU MSs and other European countries, preparing issues defined by the Protocol of the Commission and monitoring their implementation; 
  •  Preparing discussion points for bilateral meetings between the delegation of the Georgian and European representatives; 
  • Cooperation with diplomatic corps, various ministries and relevant institutions within the competence.
