Giorgi Chikovani at Conference Organized by Energy Charter Secretariat
JSC Georgian Energy Development Fund Director, Giorgi Chikovani participated in the Tirana International Energy Charter Forum held in Tirana, Albania. The conference organized by the Energy Charter Secretariat was dedicated to energy diversification, renewables and energy efficiency.
Giorgi Chikovani addressed the conference and spoke about the importance of the regional cooperation. As Chikovani noted, Georgia has a huge potential to boost its participation in the implementation of the East-West and the North-South transit projects, as well as play an important role in diversifying the sources of the energy supply to the EU.
Chikovani also covered the ongoing reforms in the energy sector and the steps that Georgia has taken in order to fulfill its obligations under the Association Agreement and the Energy Union and harmonize its energy market with the European one.
Energy Ministers of Albania and Malta, as well as the Azerbaijan Deputy Energy Minister and other high-ranking guests also participated in the event organized by the Energy Charter Secretariat.
Have signed an agreement establishing the Energy Charter in 1991, Georgia became the chair-country in 2015.
