China’s leading online travel agency Ctrip became interested in Georgia’s tourism market. Representatives of the company presented their business plans to the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Natia Turnava while her official visit to the People’s Republic of China. The Ctrip is one of the largest providers of the travel services in China. Its online platform provides potential Chinese tourists with information about Georgia’s tourist services.
The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava positively assessed the fact that the growth of the tourist flows from China to Georgia is characterized by positive dynamics. For example, in 2018, by 75% more tourists came from China than in the previous year. However, in the first eight months of 2019, more tourists arrived in Georgia than in 2018 alone. The Minister said that the increase in tourist flows was positively affected by direct flights to China (currently China Southern Airlines provides 4 regular flights per week from Beijing and Urumqi).
The representatives of the Chinese travel agency positively assessed the tourism potential of Georgia and noted that our country has every opportunity to attract more Chinese tourists with its nature, wines, historical cities, traditional food, Adjara seaside, etc.
It was highlighted that cooperation with the Chinese company will continue in the future in order to plan joint activities.
