The meeting was held within the framework of the preventive measures and regular meetings initiated by the Inter-Agency Coordination Council set up by the Prime Minister.
The main topics of the meeting were related to the financial and logistical issues, including supplies of food and essentials as well as the maintenance of the current prices.
As Natia Turnava noted after the meeting, the representatives of the companies reiterated that there is no problem in terms of supplies.
“We have gone through all the financial and logistical issues that could put these companies at a standstill. But in return we strongly demanded that the supplies are replenished smoothly and quickly. We were assured that there will be no problem in this regard. Also, the main topic was prices. We call on every company - large distribution-wholesalers as well as retailers - to take advantage of the current situation, stir up demand and not start business plans. We will control it strictly,” – Natia Turnava said.
Levan Davitashvili noted that the state is conducting real-time monitoring to prevent delays in food and other essentials. According to him, there is no reason to panic in this regard.
“The second important issue is not to allow anyone not to take advantage of the situation and to avoid speculative prices. We will be very strict, just and demanding about this. We urge everyone to refrain from this, as our response will be very harsh," – Levan Davitashvili said.
