“Tourism is one of the largest contributor to our economy. We expect tourism to generate over 2 billion 700 million USD revenue this year,” – the First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitry Kumsishvili stated in his speech at the ‘Welcome to Georgia’ official national tourism award ceremony. As Kumsishvili noted, tourism sector provided 180 working places in Georgia.
First Vice Prime Minister, in his welcoming speech, expressed gratefulness to the representatives of the tourism sector for their activity and the achieved success.
“Today’s event is very important since it encourages the private sector. At the same time, it is outstanding that the private sector itself chooses the winner of the year,” – the First Vice Prime Minister noted.
“We will continue to support the tourism development. Georgian Government annually spends around 50 million GEL on the development of the sector and this expenditures does not cover infrastructure, since the infrastructure is funded separately,” – Kumsishvili added.
‘Welcome to Georgia!’ National Tourism Awards is the only awards ceremony in Georgia for the field of tourism and hospitality since 2015. The Award is co-organized by the National Tourism Administration of Georgia of the Ministry of Economics and Sustainable Development of Georgia and is supported by the Tbilisi City Hall.
