Dimitry Kumsishvili Participated in Tourism Advisory Council Meeting

“Involvement of the private sector, openness of the Budget is the main task of the meetings, which we hold together with tourism administration with the Tourism Advisory Council established by the Investors Council,” – the First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitry Kumsishvili following the meeting of the Tourism Advisory Council held at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Tbilisi office.

First Vice Prime Minister Dimitry Kumsishvili was the first high-ranking official who participated in the Tourism Advisory Council meeting. The topic of the first meeting was the tourism budget for 2018 and marketing campaigns, which are scheduled by the National Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development for this year.

“Our main goal is to spend more efficiently the money that the state budget allocated for the National Tourism Administration. As a result, we should bring more tourists to the country, who will spend more money in the Georgian economy and stay in our country for a longer time,” – the First Vice Prime Minister noted.

Regional Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Bruno Balvanera, the Head of the Secretariat of the Investors Council Mariam Meghvinetukhutsesi, as well as representatives of the relevant businesses also participated in the Tourism Advisory Council Session.

This consultative body was created according to the recommendation of the Investors’ Council and it incorporates business associations of tourism industry, which are also the members of the Investors’ Council. The Tourism Advisory Council aims to provide recommendations to the Government on tourism development and marketing campaigns planned by the Government agencies in the tourism sector.  The Council will hold sessions on the regular basis in order to discussed topical issues of the field.
