Infrastructure
Rehabilitation works related to roads and water system entered into the active phase in Bakuriani - winter resort of Georgia. Currently, two projects are underway in Bakuriani: rehabilitation of 3 km long ring road and rehabilitation of 2,6 km long access road to Didveli ski complex.
The rehabilitation works on mentioned section consider construction of asphaltconcrete pavement on the carriageway. Also, reinstatement of structures, storm water system and ditches (drainage channels) located along the road.
Rehabilitation works are performed by Georgian Roads Construction Company “Gzamsheni 5 ” Ltd, 100 persons are employed on both projects and most of them are locals. At the same time, rehabilitation works for water and sewerage system are underway in Bakuriani.
Works will be completed by the beginning of holiday season.

Foreign direct investments (FDI) in Georgia accounted 658 million US dollars in 2009. The total share of major foreign direct investor countries reached 62 percent in 2009. United Arab Emirates is leader country by FDI in Georgia
The largest share of FDI in Georgia by countries are as follows:
- United Arab Emirates - 162,8 mln USD (24.7% of total FDI)
- Turkey – 97,9 mln USD (14.9 %);
- Panama – 74,7 mln USD (11.4%);
- United Kingdom – 72,3 mln USD (11.0%);
- 0ther countries - 250,6 mln USD (38.1%).
FDI in Georgia sectors:
- Real estate – 147,4 mln.USD (22.4% of total FDi);
- Industry - 139,8 mln.USD (21.2%);
- Construction - 105.2 mln.US (16.0%);
- Transports and communications – 98.4 mln.USD (15.0%);
- Other sectors – 167,5 mln.USD (25.4%).
FDI in Georgia by Information Sources:
- Enterprises — 511,4 mln.USD (78.0% of total FDI);
- Privatization — 97,3 mln.USD (15.0%);
- Financial sector— 49,7 mln.USD (7.0%);
International Economic Overview
International support
International Financial Corporation (IFC) will support Georgia to increase country’s competitiveness in the global economy, to support private sector development, improve its infrastructure etc.
IFC will continue to seek opportunities to invest in Georgia, particularly in agribusiness, renewable energy, transportation and energy infrastructure.
IFC’s cumulative investments in Georgia since 1995 total nearly $500 million in 35 projects across a variety of sectors.
Through its Advisory Services, IFC is working towards reform of Georgia’s tax system to benefit small businesses while helping companies improve corporate governance practices and raise food safety standards.
IFC provides critical support to the banking sector in Georgia at the time of the financial crisis, ensuring that businesses and individuals still had vital access to finance.
Georgia has been a member of IFC since 1995.
