Existing DCFTA between Georgia and Ukraine has been amended. Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Natia Turnava and First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Stepan Kubiv signed the relevant Document.

The signing ceremony was held within the frames of the second informal ministerial on trade issues with participation of the EU and the three DCFTA partner countries (Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova), which was held in Kiev. 
Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Natia Turnava noted that the Document and the relevant amendments will facilitate export access to the EU market. 

Turnava highlighted that to the new priorities of the DCFTA countries, have set the opportunities to launch such a scheme that would enable the joint products.

“The new priorities led us to such a scheme, which will enable us to jointly production. Products, the processing of which will begin in Ukraine and end up in Georgia, will be more easily delivered to the European markets, and vice versa, products, the processing of which will start in Georgia and finished in Ukraine, will be better represented in the European Union,” – Natia Turnava said.

The Document envisages that, after the entry into force of the amendment, it will be possible to produce raw materials produced in Ukraine as well as in the European Union, in Georgia with easy processing processes in Ukraine and / or export to the EU through the Free Trade Regime with these countries. For example, the Ukrainian fruit concentrate made in Georgia does not meet the rules of origin and fruit juice exported to the EU is to be imposed by the import tax. The amendments to the Agreement that implies the diagonal cumulation of terms and conditions, such products will meet the rules of origin and the export to the EU will be beneficial within the DCFTA.
