Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Genadi Arveladze met with the Director General of the World Trade Organization, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. Main trends of Georgia’s trade policy and cooperation with the World Trade Organization were discussed during the meeting.
The meeting was held within the framework of the event dedicated to the discussion of Georgia’s trade policy report at the World Trade Organization.
Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development informed the WTO Director General about the ongoing and upcoming reforms in the field of economic development and the trade policy in Georgia, as well as Georgia’s commitments to various initiatives and declarations within the Organization. It is about the Declaration on MSMEs; Initiative on Investment Facilitation for Development; Declaration on Trade and Health. According to Genadi Arveladze, Georgia actively continues to discuss the issue of joining the various initiatives of the Organization.
Prospects of further cooperation between Georgia and the World Trade Organization were als covered during the conversation.
Director General of the World Trade Organization congratulated the Georgian delegation on the successful introduction of the third trade policy review reflecting the significant progress of the country.
