Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, with the support of the European Union and the German Reconstruction Credit Bank (KfW) and in cooperation with the GOPA Intec, within the framework of the Georgian Energy Sector Reform Program (GESRP) joins the European Mobility Week, which will be held in Tbilisi on September 16-22.

The week aims to raise awareness of sustainable urban mobility, encouraging travel by public transport, walking and cycling. “Save Energy” is the theme of the current Mobility Week.

Romeo Mikautadze, First Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, highlighted that a large share of energy consumption comes from transport, which once again demonstrates the need for better popularization of clean and alternative means of mobility.“The goal of the European Mobility Week reflects this idea – it aims to inform every member of the society about the issues related to sustainable mobility and energy saving, which, ultimately, will have a positive impact on the country’s sustainable future and energy security. The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development supports this initiative, which serves to encourage sustainable mobility in order to promote the development of urban life and the creation of a healthy and clean environment,” – First Deputy Minister stated.

Georgia’s Energy Sector Reform Program is being implemented since 2021. The program envisages assistance to the Government of Georgia to implement the reforms in the energy sector and fulfill the obligations that Georgia, as a member country of the Energy Union, has in such directions as energy efficiency, energy efficiency of buildings, promotion of renewable energies and energy market.
