“We always welcome foreign direct investments, however, high quality foreign direct investment that can increase competitiveness in the country are especially welcomed," – Levan Davitashvili stated in his speech at the opening event of the renovated citrus plant.
The citrus processing plant by Georgian-Slovak Company Iberia Orbi LTD was put into operation in the Kobuleti Municipality. The enterprise produces tangerines, citrus juice concentrate and plastic boxes for selling the fruit, and has up to 3 000 tons of cold storage for storing live fruits and vegetables. As the company claims, they are ready to buy and process tangerines from local farmers this year.
The First Vice Prime Minister stated that the company has significant experience and can bring knowledge, qualifications and competence to the region. Davitashvili noted that this is a long-term investor, who understands and has relevant experience in various fields of production, including the food industry, and therefore, there are all prerequisites for the successful continuation of this business, including the full support of the central and local authorities for the investments to be successful.
"This is a very good start - we may get a well-modernized, competitive new enterprise from this enterprise, which will have great prospects for development. We are talking not only about the new life of this enterprise, but also about its further development, which involves the launching of new additional production lines. I think it will be one of the important enterprises in the value chain, which, on the one hand, contribute to the improvement of the social development of the population involved in agriculture, in terms of housing their crops, and. at the same time, strengthen our export potential, which is very important," – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development commented.
Levan Davitashvili attended the opening ceremony of the renewed citrus processing plant of the Iberia Orbi LTD together with Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture, Otar Shamugia, Chairman of Adjara Government Tornike Rizhvadze and the Minister of Agriculture of Adjara, Zaza Shavadze.
