Romeo Mikautadze Attended Signing of Memorandum of Cooperation with Technical University of Georgia

Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the State Oil and Gas Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and the Technical University of Georgia.

The Document provides for the opportunity to the students to have access to the information on modern technologies, current projects and challenges in the energy, oil and gas and other mineral resources sectors. First Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Romeo Mikautadze attended the signing of the memorandum and welcomed the students of the University. Director of the Agency, Giorgi Tatishvili, and the rector of the university, Davit Gurgenidze, signed the Memorandum.

In his address, First Deputy Minister positively evaluated the signing of the Memorandum between the state agency and the Technical University and noted that such cooperation will help to attract young qualified personnel to the public sector. Mikautadze noted that the cycle of public lectures, where the experts will deliver lectures at the university and contribute to the enlargement of students’ knowledge in the energy sector, especially in the oil and gas sector.

“For the development of the energy sector it is of outmost importance to transfer and strengthen the continuous chain of knowledge, conjoin theory and practice, create synergy and close cooperation between educational institutions, public agencies and industry companies. The signing of the Memorandum is one, but not the only step that will be taken in the near future to share the accumulated knowledge and experience in the field with our youth,” – First Deputy Minister noted.

Romeo Mikautadze focused on the current reform of the electricity market of Georgia, as well as the importance of the support scheme for the production and use of energy from renewable sources and the regional project of the Black Sea energy cable, which should connect the energy systems of Georgia and the South Caucasus with the European Union countries.

Within the framework of the Memorandum, eight lecture courses will be held at the Technical University of Georgia in order to provide the students with the latest industry information and professional development. Participants will be given certificates confirming completion of the training course.
