Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili, together with the Head of the National Tourism Administration, Maya Omiadze, participated in the 118th session of the Executive Council of the United Nations World Tourism Organization.
“At the meeting of the Executive Council of the UN World Tourism Organization, together with the world leaders of tourism, we discussed the global development of the mentioned industry. With the close cooperation of the countries, how to help each other to strengthen the directions of education, employment and investment attraction in tourism. At the same time, we had the opportunity to introduce to tourism leaders the successful results that our country has in terms of the dynamics of tourism recovery,” – Deputy Minister noted.
Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization, opened the 118th session. Tourism ministries, administrations and organizations from over 40 countries participated in the session of the Executive Council.
Georgian delegation participated in thematic discussions within the session. During the visit, numerous meetings were held with tourism ministers and leaders of different countries in order to develop cooperation.
Within the framework of the session of the Executive Board of the UN World Tourism Organization, “Renewed Visions of Tourism” was a topic of a discussion aiming at development of innovative concepts and the use of digital technologies in the tourism sector. Participants of the meeting shared their experiences and provided ideas on how to properly communicate with professionals in the field, what type of support should be provided to the tourism organizations and the sector in order to develop tourist destinations, improve communication channels and meet increased technological requirements.
