Levan Davitashvili Hosted Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan

Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Levan Davitashvili, together with the Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan, Marat Karabaev, participated in the foundation laying ceremony of the construction of the multimodal terminal in Poti. The project is being implemented within the frames of the Kazakh-Georgian partnership.

“Increasing freight turnover in our transport corridor has made it even more urgent to improve the transport infrastructure and increase capacities, close coordination between the entities participating in the corridor, increase the efficiency of multimodal shipments and operations,” – Levan Davitashvili said.

Minister noted that the project of a new multimodal terminal in Poti will contribute to the strengthening of the Trans-Caspian international route - the Middle Corridor.

“I believe that as a result of joint efforts, the potential and competitiveness of the Middle Corridor will increase even more and attract additional cargo flows,” – Levan Davitashvili added.

Before the ceremony, the Ministers visited the oil terminal and the sea port of Batumi, the area of Anaklia port, as well as the APM and PACE terminals of Poti.

After the event held in Poti, the Ministers went to Akhalkalaki, where they examined the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars-Akhalkalaki railway station.

Within the framework of the visit of the delegation of Kazakhstan, a bilateral meeting was also held, where Levan Davitashvili and Marat Karabaev discussed the important issues of the partnership relations as well as trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. They discussed the plan that Georgia and Kazakhstan drew up jointly in 2022 in Aktau, which determined the measures to be implemented by both countries until 2027 in order to increase the competitiveness and permeability of the Corridor. The conversation also covered the active participation of the Kazakh side in the Silk Road Forum, which will be held in Tbilisi this October.

Marat Karabaev expressed his deep sorrow over the tragedy that happened in Racha and offered his condolences to Levan Davitashvili on behalf of his country.

Along with Levan Davitashvili, Deputy Minister Guram Guramishvili, Head of the Maritime Transport Agency Aleksi Akhvlediani, Director of Marabda-Kartsakhi Railway LLC Levan Kankava and General Director of Georgian Railways Davit Peradze attended the meetings and events held within the frames of the visit of the delegation of Kazakhstan.
