Levan Davitashvili Congratulated Georgian Railway Employees on Professional Day

First Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Levan Davitashvili congratulates the employees of the railway system of Georgia on the professional day.

"Dear railway workers, I congratulate you on your professional day! The Georgian railway is already 152 years old - on October 10, 1872, the first train left Tbilisi to Poti, and this is the point when the history of this strategic industry for the country began. For a century and a half, the railway has been the most important link in the transport and logistics chain of Georgia, and it has become an integral part of the life of generations.

The function and importance of our country's railway network as a key link in the transport infrastructure of the entire region should be mentioned, especially in terms of given demand for Europe-Asia connecting routes. Despite numerous challenges, Georgian Railways was able to successfully integrate into the global transport and logistics network and thereby, added special importance to the historical function of the Eurasian corridor passing through our country. This is the common, team success of all railway workers, a result of joint efforts made by each of you over the years, the great dedication and responsibility invested in the work, and we thank you for your efforts very much," - the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development says in his congratulatory text.

In addition, Levan Davitashvili pointed out that new challenges are always a new incentive for progress and development, and Georgian Railways deal with this process with dignity and success, which is evidenced by the following indicator: in the January-August of 2024, the amount of cargo transported by Georgian Railways in transit mode was increased by 5,4% compared to the same period of last year.

"That's why the main value of the company was, still is and will always be the each railway worker who creates a quality product, service, company reputation and contributes to the development of the railway. Georgian Railways continues to move towards progress and thereby contribute to the development of the Georgian economy.

Finally, it must be noted that Georgian Railways is one of the largest employers in the country with over 12 000 people engaged in its system, which means a stable and dignified life for as many families. I congratulate each of you once again on your professional day, I wish you good health, continuous progress and development" – the First Vice Prime Minister notes in his congratulatory address.
