First Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development took part in the presentation of the new municipal park project in Batumi. In his speech, Levan Davitashvili spoke about the importance of a complex, multifunctional recreational space in the city center, which will become an organic part of Batumi's urban development.
"I am glad that today we are at the presentation of such a landscape park project. This is a project that, in its essence and content, should be sustainable in terms of ecology – a green project that will enrich the city and not create any additional pressure in terms of construction or development. Probably, every resident of Batumi is very sensitive and important when evaluating the changes in the infrastructure of their town. We understand that the project that will be implemented here should be of the highest standard and should further perfect and make more beautiful Batumi," – Levan Davitashvili stated in his speech.
Construction of a new municipal park in the center of Batumi will be implemented by the company Silk Development. The park integrates into the green seaside strip of the city, which is a continuation of Batumi Boulevard. The project has been prepared by the leading Danish landscape architecture company MASU Planning and is part of a concept developed by the renowned Japanese architectural firm Kengo Kuma Architects, which involves the development of a larger Batumi Riviera project and includes innovative design Silk Towers.
The project of the new municipal park of Batumi is multi-functional and includes various types of sports, entertainment and leisure spaces, including two paddle tennis courts, a sports ground, pedestrian and bicycle paths, etc. The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development emphasized that the project has the support of the state precisely because the further development of the city should only happen with the implementation of such high-quality and high-standard projects, since it is to attract tourists and visitors with higher purchasing power to the city and contribute to the Batumi’s as well as Georgia’s economy.
"This is an additional investment of tens of millions in our economy. This is a part of a complex, very important large project that will attract several hundreds of millions of investments. In addition, the new park will be a part of the existing, already historical, beautiful Batumi Boulevard. A new recreational, attractive space will be added to the city, which will become a favorite place for Batumi residents as well as the city guests," – Levan Davitashvili said.
Along with the First Vice Prime Minister, the Chairman of the Adjara Government Tornike Rizhvadze, the Head of the National Tourism Administration Maia Omiadze, the Head of Silk Development Giorgi Ramishvili, Batumi Mayor Archil Chikovani, other representatives of the public and private sectors as well as Batumi citizens participated in the presentation of the new municipal park project.
