Official visit of the Hungarian government delegation to Georgia was held under the leadership of the Prime Minister, Viktor Orbán. On October 28, the Hungarian delegation was met by the First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili at the Tbilisi International Airport. Heads of diplomatic missions of both countries – the Ambassador of Georgia to Hungary, Tamar Liluashvili, and the Ambassador of Hungary to Georgia, Anna Mária Sikó, participated in the welcoming ceremony.
Commenting on the visit of the Hungarian government delegation to Georgia, Levan Davitashvili emphasized that Hungary is the country that chairs the EU Council, which once again emphasizes the importance of Georgia's cooperation with Europe, Georgia’s European aspiration and the strategic line that the Georgian government has always had, still has and will maintain in the future.
"This is a very clear support – the visit of the Prime Minister of Hungary, Mr. Viktor Orbán to Georgia. This is a recognition of the important victory that the Georgian Dream won in the elections and, of course, it is very important to note that the Georgian Dream received the full support of the absolute majority of the population of Georgia. This is among them, respect for the right choice of the population, and I think that we will continue the close cooperation we had in the future" – the First Vice Prime Minister said.
In addition, Levan Davitashvili emphasized the importance of cooperation with Georgia's strategic partners, especially with the European Union and EU member states. According to him, therefore, Georgia is always ready for these relations to be further deepened, to be even more effective and productive.
"However, these relations should be based on mutual respect. We hope that this visit will further help to deepen the relations between the EU member states and us. I want to emphasize, we are ready, we have never been in a different position and we always wanted to further deepen the cooperation we have. In the future, of course, we have positive expectations that our relations will be even more favorable for both sides," – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development said.
As part of the Hungarian government delegation, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Economic Development Márton Nagy, Minister of Finance Mihály Varga, State Secretary János Máté and other officials visited Georgia. On October 29, the official welcoming ceremony of the Prime Minister Viktor Orbán was held in the government administration.
Within the framework of the visit, meetings between the members of the Georgian-Hungarian government were held face-to-face and in an extended format, and a wide range of partnership relations in various fields were discussed. After the meetings, the leaders of the two countries made a joint statement to the media.
Within the framework of the visit of the Hungarian delegation to Georgia, the First Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili held a meeting with his Hungarian counterpart, Minister of Economic Development Márton Nagy. The heads of the economic agencies of the two countries discussed the issues of Georgia-Hungary trade and economic relations and the prospects of their development.
