Positive Trends Continue in the Georgian Economy – Average Economic Growth in January-August 2025 Reached 7,9%

According to preliminary estimates, the Georgian economy grew by 6,6% in August 2025, which once again confirms the high economic growth trends of the current year: economic growth was 9,8% in the first quarter of 2025, growth in the second quarter amounted to 7,3%, economic growth in July was 6,5%, and in August was 6,6%. It should be noted that the average economic growth for January-August 2025 was determined at 7,9%.

It is important that in August 2025, the turnover of VAT-paying enterprises increased by 9,0% compared to the same month last year, and the number of newly registered enterprises amounted to 4632 entities. In August 2025, the information and communication, education, financial and insurance activities, healthcare, energy, professional, scientific, and technical activities, as well as the trade sectors, made a significant, positive contribution to economic growth.

As for the data for January-August of the current year, the high economic growth during this period was facilitated by the positive trends recorded in foreign trade, among which the export is noteworthy, having increased by 6,7% and amounting to 4,4 billion USD. It is also worth noting that in the first half of 2025 (January-June), revenues from travel (tourism) almost amounted to 2 billion USD (annual growth of 3,8%).

The positive trends and high economic growth recorded in the Georgian economy clearly indicate that, despite external shocks, geopolitical tensions, and challenges, the Georgian economy maintains resilience. The year 2024 was also exceptional in this regard, when Georgia had one of the highest economic growths globally and was ranked third in the world in terms of the rate of economic growth. Our country’s economic growth in 2024 amounted to 9,4%.
