Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Irakli Nadareishvili, participated in the international technology event – Web Summit 2025. Georgia was represented at the large-scale technology summit held in the Portuguese capital, Lisbon, with a thematic exhibition space and the StartUP in Georgia initiative.
“The development of the national startup ecosystem is one of the main priorities of the policy that the Government of Georgia has been implementing for the last 10 years, which is aimed at evolving a knowledge and innovation-based economy. It is for this purpose that Georgia is participating for the third time in the world’s largest technology event. Both the country’s stand and Georgian startups are presented, allowing them to talk about various projects with global investors and mentors” – Irakli Nadareishvili stated.
In the exhibition space organized within the framework of the event, in cooperation with the Georgia’s Innovation and Technology Agency and the Enterprise Georgia Agency, summit participants and visitors had the opportunity to learn about and receive comprehensive information on the business and investment environment and the advantages of the startup ecosystem in Georgia.
Web Summit is one of the most large-scale international platforms in the field of technology, where every year over 70000 participants, hundreds of startups, investors, and representatives of international companies from more than 160 countries gather. Georgian startups participated in this year’s technology summit: Klics; BetterStep; VS1 – DeFi; Backoffice; Herio and Tasteit, which were distributed in various profile zones. A panel discussion was held during the summit, where the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development was one of the speakers.
“We had the opportunity to learn about global technological trends and products and to present ourselves in this regard. I participated in a panel discussion, where we specifically talked about the offers Georgia has for global startup, innovative, and technological companies - including tax incentives and the startup status, which we recently introduced in Georgia” – Irakli Nadareishvili noted.
According to the Deputy Minister’s assessment, it is important that Georgia is so diversely represented at the event since it will help to attract new international investors to the country and develop specific startups as well as the startup ecosystem in general. Additionally, as Irakli Nadareishvili noted, from 2026, four new global accelerators will start operating in Georgia, which will significantly assist startups, including in terms of entering the international market and attracting investments.
The Chairman of the Innovation and Technology Agency, Avtandil Kasradze, and the Director of the Enterprise Georgia Agency, Mikheil Khidureli, also participated in Web Summit 2025.
