“The state has created a competitive environment for innovation, characterized by a flexible tax policy, support for the IT sector and an overall business environment that has become a significant advantage for Georgia,” – Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, stated in her speech at the presentation of the investment project by Tether, the world’s largest platform based on blockchain technology. Kvrivishvili opened the presentation alongside the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze.
Mariam Kvrivishvili noted that Georgian Government has turned the development of the technological and innovative ecosystem into one of the main priorities of its national economic policy in recent years.
The Minister stated that due to the relevant policy, the country already boasts hundreds of funded startups, Georgian companies involved in international acceleration programs, a growing technological community and a new generation that envisions its future precisely within innovation and technology.
“The modernization of the financial sector, support for fintech innovations, and a technology-oriented vision create a solid foundation for Georgia to gradually establish itself as a regional technological and financial hub. In this regard, the activities of companies like Tether in Georgia carry exceptional importance. Tether actively invests capital into the Georgian technological and innovative ecosystem, specifically in local startups and educational platforms. The company utilizes Tbilisi as its main regional operational base and directs investment resources toward funding startups,” – Mariam Kvrivishvili explained.
According to the Minister’s assessment, the company’s interest in Georgia serves as a very strong message to the international technological world.
“This means that Georgia is already perceived as a country that possesses a stable economic environment, a growing technological ecosystem, an innovation-oriented state policy and the ambition to become a technological hub,” – the Minister of Economy stated.
The Minister emphasized that the presence of such global companies in Georgia translates into sharing experience, creating new opportunities, connecting local talents with international networks and, most importantly, integrating Georgia into the global innovative economy.
Mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze, President of the National Bank, Natia Turnava and Member of the Parliament of Georgia, Vako Turnava, also addressed the audience at the event. Paolo Ardoino, the CEO of Tether, delivered a speech at the meeting as well.
