Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili Opened Innovation and Technology Agency’s Technological Hub in Kutaisi

A technological hub of the Innovation and Technology Agency was opened in Kutaisi. The TechnoHub was officially opened by the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze and the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili.

As Mariam Kvrivishvili noted in her address at the opening ceremony, the goal of the state’s economic policy is to ensure that economic growth is based on more knowledge, technology and innovation, while creating high-paying jobs in every region of Georgia.

“Today, the world operates in a dynamically changing environment. Artificial intelligence, digital technologies, and a data-driven economy define the competitiveness of states, sectors, and economies. Under these conditions, Georgia’s choice is clear – it wants to be not just a consumer of new technologies, but a country where knowledge is generated, new ideas are born and competitive technological businesses develop,” – Mariam Kvrivishvili stated.

Economy Minister highlighted that realizing this vision requires modern infrastructure, a strong educational environment, state support and the active participation of the private sector. The Kutaisi Technological Hub brings all of these elements together.

“Here, in a single space, science, education, research, technological entrepreneurship, and innovation will unite. Children and young people will discover modern technologies, students will deepen their knowledge, startups will receive mentorship and development opportunities, while scientists and companies will have the opportunity to transform their ideas into competitive products. Our visitors will also find an interactive museum of science and technology, an artificial intelligence computing center and TUMO – a creative technologies educational center for school-aged children operating in more than 20 countries worldwide,” – Mariam Kvrivishvili said.

According to the Minister, it is symbolic that this project was implemented specifically in Kutaisi, as the city has consistently developed into an important center of the new economy in recent years.
“The international airport gave the city new opportunities, Kutaisi International University created a strong educational and research foundation, and the Technological Hub is a natural continuation of this development – a place where knowledge is transformed into economic opportunity. Our goal is for Georgia to become one of the leaders in innovation and technological entrepreneurship in the region. That is why we are building a competitive business environment, strengthening human capital, supporting startups, collaborating with universities, and creating favorable conditions to make Georgia an even more attractive destination for international technology companies and investors,” –  Mariam Kvrivishvili explained.

The Minister thanked all participating parties whose support made this important project possible.

The Technological Hub of the Innovation and Technology Agency under the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia integrates modern tech laboratories, educational and entrepreneurial spaces, a scientific and technological museum, international educational programs, and startup development infrastructure. Its objective is to create opportunities for people of various ages and backgrounds to learn, create, test and develop technological ideas under one roof.

The hub will house the largest TechnoPark in Georgia, where thousands of beneficiaries across all age categories will have the opportunity year-round to participate in projects such as a startup incubator, pre-accelerator, technology weeks, innovation camps, hackathons, workshops, training sessions, and hundreds of other educational and competitive events.
