Levan Davitashvili Met with UAE State Minister for Foreign Trade

Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili met with the State Minister for Foreign Trade of the United Arab Emirates, Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, who participated in the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum.

Main areas of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, importance of the Free Trade Agreement between the countries, which will cover trade in goods, rules of origin and procedures of origin, customs administration and trade facilitation, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, technical barriers in trade, protective measures in trade, investment, trade in services, digital trade and many other issues were discussed during the meeting. The parties positively assessed the impact of the Agreement on the deepening of bilateral economic cooperation.

It was noted that the bilateral trade between Georgia and the Emirates is characterized by increasing dynamics - according to the data of 9 months of 2023, trade turnover was increased by 64%, and export - by 60%. It was said that the implementation of the Agreement signed in October of this year will have a positive impact on the dynamics of trade and will additionally open the way for Georgian manufacturers to the 10-million market with high purchasing power of the United Arab Emirates. The Minister of State for Foreign Trade of the United Arab Emirates particularly emphasized the positive economic dynamics and investment opportunities in Georgia.

Conversation also covered the prospects of deepening cooperation in such important sectors of economy as tourism, air traffic, energy, etc.
