Georgia recorded a new record high number of tourist visits, reaching an all-time high of 2.3 million visits in January-June 2025, which is 6,9% higher number compared to the corresponding figure for the previous year. The number of international traveler visits also set a record, totaling 3,2 million. According to Mariam Kvrivishvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, these indicators are the result of the government’s correct policy aimed at maintaining peace and stability in the country, which positively affects the development of various sectors, including tourism and civil aviation.

“The record statistics for tourism and aviation clearly indicate that the government’s policy is correct and contributes not only to the development of these sectors but also to the overall economic progress, creation of new jobs, and promotion of small and medium-sized businesses. On the one hand, we worked on establishing direct flights with target countries, and on the other hand, the right marketing campaign yielded results, which are now reflected in record figures in the tourism industry. This year was characterized by the introduction of new air routes, new airlines to the Georgian market, and increased frequencies, which is directly related to the growth of tourist visits. It is noteworthy that more than 70 airlines operate in Georgia with more than 110 destinations. I would particularly highlight the record figures from the main target markets - the European Union, the United Kingdom, and the Gulf countries, which are unequivocally linked to both, the increase in direct flights and the intensification of marketing activities. We continue to work in this direction and I am confident that in the coming quarters, a record number of tourists will again arrive from target markets” – Mariam Kvrivishvili noted.

According to the Minister, in the first two quarters of 2025, a total of 201986 international visits were made to Georgia from the EU and Great Britain, which is a 10,2% increase compared to the same period in 2024 - international visits significantly increased from Greece, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Poland, Germany, etc.

The Minister also focused on the record growth of tourist visits from the Gulf countries - in January-June 2025, 47 430 visits were made to Georgia, which is 10,5% higher figure than of the same period in 2024. International visits particularly increased from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. The number of visits from Azerbaijan, India, and China also significantly increased.
