Issues related to strengthening economic relations between the two countries were discussed during the meeting held at the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development. The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov discussed the deepening of cooperation, including in such sectors as trade, investments, transport and international routes, logistics, tourism, aviation, etc.

Mariam Kvrivishvili introduced the Uzbek delegation to Georgia’s economic indicators in recent years and the economic policy that has led to the country maintaining high economic growth, record figures in tourism, employment, and poverty reduction. The Minister emphasized Georgia’s advantages for attracting foreign investments, including low taxes, access to major international markets through free trade agreements, as well as high ratings and forecasts from international financial organizations, according to which Georgia will be one of the leading countries globally in terms of economic growth in 2025. As noted at the meeting, these circumstances are very important and interesting for Uzbek investors, who have the opportunity to show interest in implementing projects in priority sectors such as transport and logistics, energy, and real estate.

“Our goal is to increase trade between countries, business-to-business relations, sectoral investments, and the tourist segment – to achieve this, we discussed the possibilities of creating various platforms for developing mutual cooperation. In the near future, our visit to Uzbekistan is also planned, where we will once again discuss the implementation of this agenda and, in general, issues of deepening economic relations between the two countries” – Mariam Kvrivishvili noted.

One of the important topics Mariam Kvrivishvili and Bakhtiyor Saidov discussed was cooperation in the transport sector and within the framework of the Middle Corridor. As stated at the meeting, Georgia’s transit and logistical potential has significantly increased in recent years. The country is involved in various connectivity initiatives aimed at developing short and competitive transport routes between Europe and Asia, including TRACECA, the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route – Middle Corridor, and CAREC. The Georgian side noted that with the two multifunctional ports of Poti and Batumi, the oil terminals of Supsa and Kulevi, a well-integrated land and rail network, and large infrastructure projects currently being implemented in the country, Georgia can further increase its role and importance in the development of the Middle Corridor.

Uzbekistan is an important trade and economic partner for Georgia. In January-May 2025, trade turnover between the two countries increased by 20 percent, with export growth reaching 46 percent. It is noteworthy that according to 2024 statistics, trade turnover between Georgia and Uzbekistan had increased by 40%. The volume of investments from Uzbekistan to Georgia is also growing, including in areas such as real estate, transport and logistics, hotels, restaurants, etc. In addition, the development of cooperation in the field of tourism and the dynamics of visitor growth should be emphasized. Uzbekistan is one of the interesting tourist markets for Georgia.
