Mariam Kvrivishvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, met with Alan Purcell, Acting U.S. Ambassador. The meeting covered priority areas of cooperation between Georgia and the U.S. and highlighted the importance of the bilateral strategic partnership. It was noted that the Georgian side is interested in “rebooting” relations and restoring strategic cooperation with the U.S.
The Minister emphasized the importance of President Trump’s peace initiatives, including the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace agreement, which created new opportunities for development in the South Caucasus region. According to Kvrivishvili, the achieved result is important for maintaining peace and security in the region, which is a priority of the Georgian government’s policy.
At the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of economic cooperation, including bilateral trade, investment, and transport.
Both sides placed special emphasis on the importance of developing the Middle Corridor. They underscored Georgia’s function as a key player in regional transit projects, as well as the importance of developing the Middle Corridor as a stable, safe, and efficient transit route connecting Europe and Asia. The discussion also highlighted the infrastructure projects that the Georgian government is implementing and planning to develop and increase the competitiveness of the Middle Corridor.
It was also noted that the trade turnover between the countries is growing, reaching 1,6 billion USD in the period of January-July of 2025.
Genadi Arveladze, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, also attended the meeting.
