The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development opened the new Borjomi plant together with the Prime Minister of Georgia. Mariam Kvrivishvili also toured the plant’s production process. The Minister noted in her speech that it is important that the 135-year history of the most famous Georgian brand continues and develops.
“Borjomi is our country’s notable, most famous, and distinctive name, which has even become a trademark of Georgian identity and spirit, expressing the nature, mountains, springs, and character of Georgia. Thanks to the management company of Borjomi, which has made a great effort to develop the existing brand and invested 120 million USD to build this factory” – Mariam Kvrivishvili noted.
The Minister of Economy highlighted that the factory created new jobs, and all 600 employees are Borjomi residents, which highlights the company’s social responsibility and ensures that the company and the factory’s share in the growth of the local economy is increasing.
“Statistics show that our country is a leader in the region, as well as in European countries, with high economic growth. Sectoral development is also very stable. The growth of the sector’s trade turnover and exports should also be highlighted” – the Minister of Economy added.
The new IDS Borjomi Georgia factory was opened in Kvibisi. It is a modern, technologically equipped enterprise. In terms of scale and production capabilities, the plant is the largest in its field in Georgia, with a starting capacity of 750 million bottles per year, which will reach up to one billion bottles by 2030.
