Tbilisi Outlet Village, the first outlet in the region, was opened by the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, along with Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. Mariam Kvrivishvili congratulated the founders and employees on the start of their activities and noted that the outlet village is an important project for strengthening the country’s economy, with an investment volume exceeding 80 million GEL.
“It is very important that the project will employ approximately 250 citizens of our country. New projects serve the sustainable development of the economy and specific sectors. When we say that the country has a very positive economic growth dynamic, the sustainable, dynamic, and diversified development of each sector is, of course, of paramount importance” – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development during her speech stated.
The construction of the outlet village is actively underway. The project will expand further and attract more international brands to Georgia and by the end of December, about 50 brands will be represented in the Outlet Village. As Mariam Kvrivishvili noted, the project will contribute not only to the development of the retail sector in the country but also to the strengthening of the tourism sector.
“We view the project as a new center of attraction and a new tourist destination. We are confident that the outlet village will have many customers and not only our fellow citizens but also tourists visiting Georgia, guests from the broader region, Europe, and Asian countries. As you know, outlet villages are particularly popular in European countries. We are confident that the project will make a huge contribution to the growth of tourism revenues. The country’s policy is fully based on increasing spending from tourism, and, of course, such projects ensure additional revenues for the country’s budget” –the Minister of Economy said.
Furthermore, Mariam Kvrivishvili stressed that the outlet village is unprecedented in the region. According to the Minister, the correct location was chosen for the facility. It is located close to Tbilisi and the new Vaziani International Airport, which will further contribute to its successful operation.
“Vaziani airport will be added to the capital in a few years, and I am sure that the project’s concept, its location, and its large-scale development plan will ensure that the outlet village will be very successful and contribute even more to our country’s economy” – Mariam Kvrivishvili commented.
