Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, met with the British Ambassador to Georgia, Gareth Ward. The meeting addressed the priority directions for bilateral trade and economic relations, which included highlighting successful cooperation in sectors like trade, energy, tourism, civil aviation, and others. The positive dynamic in the trade sector between the two countries was emphasized.
Discussions covered current trends in Georgia’s energy sector, stressing actions aimed at increasing energy independence and security. Attention was also focused on the further development of transit projects passing through Georgia aiming at supplying Europe with energy resources.
It was also highlighted at the meeting that British Airways and easyJet are successfully operating in the Georgian aviation market.
The meeting also touched upon the steps taken by Georgia regarding the enforcement of international sanctions. As the Minister noted, Georgia strictly adheres to the relevant norms of international law and national legislation and applies preventative measures to prevent the evasion of sanctions by third parties, both in the customs and maritime directions.
Deputy Ministers of Economy and Sustainable Development, Inga Pkhaladze and Genadi Arveladze, also attended the meeting.
