Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Inga Pkhaladze, participated in a meeting with representatives of the economy and business sectors. The event was organized by the JSC Georgian State Electrosystem and was attended by representatives of the private and public sectors.
In her welcoming speech, the Deputy Minister spoke about the capabilities and challenges of Georgia’s energy sector.
“We have quite ambitious plans for Georgia’s energy system to be a connecting bridge between the Eastern and Western regions. Accordingly, our goal is to develop the country’s energy growth in the right direction” – Inga Pkhaladze stated.
The Deputy Minister placed special emphasis on the importance of cooperation between the public and business sectors. According to Pkhaladze, the achievement of the set goal is only possible as a result of close cooperation between the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, as the policy-implementing body, and the private sector.
“It will be very important for us to jointly review the results achieved through our cooperation to date and together define the direction we will choose for taking precise steps in the future,” – Inga Pkhaladze noted.
The meeting hosted presentations and panel discussions where the current situation in the energy sector, ongoing reforms in the industry, prospects for attracting investments, and strategic directions for the development of the energy system were discussed.
Within the framework of the meeting, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Georgian State Electrosystem and the companies – Mitas Energy, Stori Hesi, Caucasenergo, and EnergoN. An Advisory Board of the Georgian State Electrosystem was also formed and mainly staffed by representatives of energy companies.
