Mariam Kvrivishvili: We signed several memoranda of outmost importance with the Chinese side aiming at strengthen trade and economic relations between the countries

During the visit of the Georgian government delegation to the People’s Republic of China, several memoranda in various sectorial directions were signed after the expanded meeting between the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, and the Premier of the People’s Republic of China, Li Qiang, which will contribute to the further deepening of trade and economic relations between the countries.

“There was a significant meeting between the Prime Ministers of Georgia and the People’s Republic of China. Both leaders discussed new objectives that will strengthen trade, economic, and people-to-people relations between the countries. During the meeting, several crucial memoranda were signed, which will further solidify trade and economic relations between our countries” – Mariam Kvrivishvili noted.

Regarding the memoranda signed between the two countries: Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mariam Kvrivishvili, and Minister of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, Wang Wentao, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the completion of negotiations for the update of the Free Trade Agreement between China and Georgia. Mariam Kvrivishvili assessed that several important points were included in the document.

“In the updated document, a special emphasis is placed on the export of agricultural products from Georgia to China. Also, the investment direction point was renewed in this document, which will give a significant impetus to the attraction of investments from China to Georgia,” – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development noted.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and the Civil Aviation Administration of China on the joint development of the Air Silk Road. The document was signed by Mariam Kvrivishvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, and Han Jun, Deputy Administrator of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).
“The aviation agreement will be a very important step forward and will also give an additional boost to direct flights between the countries” – Mariam Kvrivishvili commented.

The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development also assessed that a very important agreement was signed by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, which will further strengthen the export of Georgian products to the Chinese market.

Within the framework of the visit to the People’s Republic of China, a Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and the National Development and Reform Commission of the People’s Republic of China aiming at strengthening cooperation in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
