Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, met with the French Minister of Transport, Philippe Tabarot.
The parties discussed priority areas of economic cooperation. Particular attention was paid to the transport and logistics sectors.
The meeting was held within the framework of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor and Connectivity Investment Forum and the Transport Ministerial Meeting of the EU, Central Asia, South Caucasus and Black Sea region countries, held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.
At the meeting, the Georgian side detailed the large-scale transport and logistics infrastructure projects supported by the state, whose development will make the transport routes passing through Georgia, including the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor, more competitive, thus promoting increased connectivity between Asia and Europe. Priority projects named included the railway infrastructure modernization and renewal project, the East-West Highway, the new Tbilisi International Airport, etc.
Discussions also covered deepening cooperation in the fields of railway, maritime transport and civil aviation.
The parties focused on investments by French companies in the transport and logistics sectors and expressed their readiness to facilitate them.
The parties expressed their readiness to promote further cooperation between the two countries in the areas of transport and logistics, as well as the development of regional transport corridors.
Deputy Ministers of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Tamar Ioseliani and Genadi Arveladze, and the Ambassador of Georgia to Uzbekistan, David Kotaria, also attended the meeting.
