Irakli Nadareishvili: Our goal is not only the renewal and modernization of the existing resorts but the development of new resort areas as well

“The diverse potential of Georgia’s resorts is a significant basis for economic progress. They create a wide range of tourism products and ensure the country’s high competitiveness in the international market. The capabilities of Georgia’s climatic and balneological resorts allow the country to attract millions of visitors annually, create thousands of new jobs, and make a significant contribution to the country’s economy” –  Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Irakli Nadareishvili stated in his speech at the international forum FoResorts 2025.

The Forum was organized by the Resort Development Agency and was attended by world-leading experts in resortology, scientists, high-level managers of the resort industry, and decision-makers from international organizations, the private, and public sectors.

The Deputy Minister highlighted several important initiatives that the government is implementing for the development of the resort sector. Among them, Irakli Nadareishvili named investments in both tourism infrastructure and the development of human capital for the sector. “The state’s goal is not only the renewal and modernization of existing resorts but the development of new resort areas as well. Our country has all the prerequisites necessary for success – a natural environment, centuries-old culture, a rapidly growing tourist market, consistent policy, and increasing investments, which determine the sustainable and competitive development of the resort industry” – Irakli Nadareishvili noted.

The Forum was also attended by the Director of the Resort Development Agency, Alexander Onoprishvili, Head of the National Tourism Administration, Maia Omiadze, President of the European Historical Thermal Cities Association and Mayor of the Italian city Montegrotto Terme, Riccardo Mortandello, Director of New Locations Development at the Asian Development Bank, Srinivas Sampath, President of the Saudi Arabian Health Tourism Association, Ahmed Al Areej, Head of the Budapest Spa and Thermal Resorts Company, Ildiko Borosne Szuets, Director of the French Cluster Montagne, Benoît Robert, CEO of Grand Massif Domaines Skiables, Frédéric Marion, and others.
