Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Inga Pkhaladze, participated in the 23rd session of the European Energy Community Ministerial, which was held in Vienna, Austria. It is noteworthy that in 2025, Georgia is the chair country of the said association.
In her speech at the ministerial session, the Deputy Minister focused on the importance of deepening regional cooperation for European energy security. According to Inga Pkhaladze, Georgia is and will remain a reliable and equal partner for Europe, including in the direction of regional energy projects. The Deputy Minister spoke about the Black Sea submarine cable project, which will connect Georgia to the EU energy system, as well as the green energy corridor, in the development of which Georgia, Azerbaijan, Romania, and Hungary are involved. Inga Pkhaladze positively assessed the granting of Mutual Interest status by the European Commission to the Black Sea submarine cable project.
According to the Deputy Minister, increasing energy efficiency and developing renewable energy are priority directions of energy policy. According to Inga Pkhaladze, Georgia is carrying out the harmonization of legislation with the European one and specifically, certain bylaws were adopted to increase energy efficiency, and work is also underway on amendments to the law on renewable energy.
„This year of presidency was particularly important for Georgia, as the importance of involvement and open dialogue was once again showcased. We remained committed to constructive relations with all partners, maintained full readiness for active participation at the highest level, and proved through our actions that Georgia considers itself a reliable and equal partner. We believe that continuous dialogue and cooperation are essential to strengthening mutual trust and understanding“ – Inga Pkhaladze noted.
Within the framework of the ministerial, the Deputy Minister held bilateral meetings with the Director of the Energy Community, Artur Lorkowski, as well as with the heads of delegations from other countries.
