Within the framework of her visit to the Republic of Serbia, Mariam Kvrivishvili, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, held a meeting with Jagoda Lazarević, Minister of Internal and External Trade of Serbia. The parties discussed key issues of economic partnership between the two countries, including priority areas of bilateral trade and economic cooperation and prospects for future relations in this direction. The ministers paid special attention to the readiness to launch negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement between Georgia and Serbia and the importance of signing a joint statement to this effect.
As noted at the meeting, the commencement of direct flights between Georgia and Serbia this year has significantly strengthened connectivity between the two countries, providing a particular stimulus for the development of communication in both the tourism and business sectors. Mariam Kvrivishvili spoke in detail with her Serbian colleague about the Georgian government’s vision and plans, including the development of the country’s transport and logistics capabilities and ongoing large-scale infrastructure projects in the country.
Within the framework of the visit to Serbia, Mariam Kvrivishvili and Jagoda Lazarević co-chaired the second session of the Georgia-Serbia Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation and signed a joint statement regarding the launch of negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement between Georgia and Serbia.
Ambassador of Georgia to the Hellenic Republic and the Republic of Serbia, Levan Beridze also attended the meeting of the ministers in Belgrade.
