Mariam Kvrivishvili Discusses Key Infrastructure Projects for Transport Sector Development with Asian Development Bank Representatives

Mariam Kvrivishvili and Leas Gutierrez, Director General of the Central and West Asia Department of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), discussed vital infrastructure projects for the development of the country’s transport sector during a meeting held at the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development. Leslie Bearman Lahm, Country Director of the ADB Resident Mission in Georgia, as well as the Bank’s sector directors, leading transport specialists and project officers also attended the meeting. Deputy Minister Tamar Ioseliani and the Director General of Georgian Railway, Lasha Abashidze, also participated in the meeting alongside Mariam Kvrivishvili.

Mariam Kvrivishvili introduced the ADB representatives to the Government’s vision within the framework of Georgia’s Transport Strategy regarding projects that play a crucial role in ensuring economic growth and regional connectivity in the coming years.

During the meeting, particular emphasis was placed on the New Tbilisi International Airport project. It was noted that a high level of interest was recorded in the tender announced by the Asian Development Bank for the development of an economic feasibility study for the new international airport in Vaziani; the selection process for a consulting company is currently underway.
