Mariam Kvrivishvili and Brazilian Ambassador to Georgia Discussed Prospects of Deepening Economic Partnership between Two Countries

Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federative Republic of Brazil to Georgia, Carlos Ricardo Martins Ceglia. At the meeting with the Ambassador, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development emphasized the potential for deepening economic cooperation between Georgia and Brazil. As stated at the meeting, in 2025, trade turnover between the two countries increased by 9%, exports by 73%, and the growth of domestic exports amounted to 39%. Meeting participants discussed opportunities to further increase bilateral trade and emphasized Georgia’s interest in export growth. Carlos Ricardo Martins Ceglia expressed interest in the possibility of signing a preferential trade agreement and continuing discussions in this direction, which the Georgian side welcomes.

As the Minister noted, the two countries have taken very important steps over the last 15 years to strengthen their partnership.

The conversation also touched upon the partnership in the tourism industry to strengthen bilateral cooperation; it was noted that the number of visitors from Brazil increased by 38% in 2024 and by 25% in 2025. Participants also spoke about strengthening cooperation in innovation and technology, maritime, aviation, and other important sectors.

One of the main issues that received special attention during the meeting was Georgia’s favorable investment environment. Georgia offers investors an excellent investment environment, as confirmed by the World Bank’s B-Ready report: Georgia ranks at the 2nd position in terms of operational efficiency, the 3rd in regulatory framework, and 6the in the tax system. It was also emphasized that Georgia provides access to markets of 2,3 billion people without customs duties and actively implements various incentive mechanisms, including additional tax benefits on investments in Free Industrial Zones and special preferential conditions for IT companies. As the Minister of Economy noted, the Georgian side invites Brazilian investors to consider investment opportunities in priority sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, renewable energy, the hotel business, real estate, etc.

The meeting held at the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development between Carlos Ricardo Martins Ceglia and Mariam Kvrivishvili was also attended by Deputy Minister of Economy Genadi Arveladze and the Head of the Department for Trade Development and International Economic Relations, Givi Zedelashvili.
