In January 2026, passenger traffic at Georgian airports was increased by 16%. During the same period, the total number of flights performed at the country’s airports reached 2873, which exceeds the data of January of last year by 16,17%. The volume of cargo transported in January 2026 is also noteworthy, with growth exceeding 38% compared to the same period in 2025.
Regarding the number of passengers, in the first month of the current year, Georgian airports served 613 933 passengers. The breakdown by the country’s international airports is as follows: Tbilisi International Airport served 430 034 passengers, Kutaisi International Airport received 138 028 passengers, while Batumi International Airport – 44 894 passengers.
In January 2026, the volume of transported cargo amounted to 3147,16 tons – a 38,75% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Compared to last January, the indicator for the use of Georgia’s airspace increased by 9,56%. In total, 24 387 flight operations (take-offs, landings, overflights) were recorded during the first month of 2026.
It is noteworthy that in 2025, the aviation sector showed record growth in all main directions of air traffic. Last year, Georgian airports served 8 494 640 passengers, which was a record passenger traffic figure for the country. 2025 was also a record year in terms of flights performed – 38 218 flights were carried out at Georgian airports during the year, which was by 17,5% higher number compared to those performed in 2024. As for air cargo transportation, the volume of cargo amounted to 38 578,379 tons, which was also a record result for Georgian airports, as the growth in cargo turnover, compared to 2024, reached 50%.
