Tamar Ioseliani Discussed Prospects of Telecommunications Sphere and Digital Hub in Georgia with ITU Europe Office Head

Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Tamar Ioseliani held a meeting with Jaroslaw Ponder, the Head of the ITU Office for Europe at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

The parties discussed the priorities of cooperation between Georgia and the International Telecommunication Union. Particular attention was paid to the process of building broadband internet infrastructure in Georgia, as well as the government’s priority direction regarding the development of a digital hub. 

The meeting highlighted the issue of cellular broadcasting in the country. It was noted that the government is actively working on the development of technologies through which the country’s citizens will receive various types of early warning messages. 

The parties discoursed on the current situation in Georgia regarding the AI development and the possibility of support for the AI roadmap development process from such an authoritative organisation as the ITU. Representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development also attended the meeting.
