Mariam Kvrivishvili Discussed Bilateral Economic Relations with Azerbaijani Economy Minister, Mikayil Jabbarov

Mariam Kvrivishvili, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, met with the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan, Mikayil Jabbarov. The meeting was held within the framework of the Georgia-Azerbaijan-Türkiye Trilateral Business Forum.

During the meeting, the significant role of Georgia in strengthening peace and connectivity in the region was emphasized. It was noted that the trilateral forum has been held since 2012 and has established itself over the years as an effective platform for trilateral economic cooperation.

The ministers discussed priority areas of trade and economic relations, highlighting the positive dynamics in bilateral trade between the two countries. It was noted that Azerbaijan is one of Georgia’s largest trading partners – according to 2025 data, Georgia’s local exports to Azerbaijan increased by 26%, making it the fourth-largest destination among Georgia’s top exporting countries. Despite the successful cooperation in bilateral trade, both parties expressed interest in further increasing trade volumes. In this regard, the ministers attached great importance to holding business forums, trade missions and other events involving the business communities of both nations. They positively evaluated the 7th Georgia-Azerbaijan-Türkiye Business Forum, which saw participation from approximately 400 companies.

The meeting also underscored the importance of deepening cooperation in sectors such as investment, transport and logistics, tourism, agriculture, energy, communications, and more. Particular emphasis was placed on supporting the implementation of regional projects. The Georgian side spoke extensively about transport and logistics infrastructure projects, the development of which will increase the competitiveness of the Middle Corridor and facilitate Georgia's transformation into a transport hub. They highlighted the importance of projects such as the modernization of Georgian Railway, the renewal of rolling stock (wagons and locomotives) and the development of port infrastructure.

Attention was also focused on cooperation between the countries in the transportation of oil and gas. The fruitful cooperation within the framework of the Southern Gas Corridor was highlighted, through which Azerbaijani natural gas is transited via Georgia to the markets of Türkiye and Europe.

Deputy Ministers of Economy and Sustainable Development – Genadi Arveladze, Tamar Ioseliani and Irakli Nadareishvili, as well as the Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Zurab Pataradze also participated in the meeting.
