Mariam Kvrivishvili, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, participated in a meeting of the Georgia-Armenia Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation. During the session, co-chaired by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the parties discussed prospects of deepening cooperation in various directions, including trade and economic relations.
“The commission meeting was exceptionally productive - discussions took place across numerous areas on how to further deepen and strengthen trade and economic relations between our countries. Conversations also covered enhancing cooperation in culture, education, infrastructure, and various other sectors. Naturally, within the framework of the commission, special attention was paid to regional peace - how vital it is for our countries to continue close cooperation, partnership and friendship to further promote peace and stability in our region” – Mariam Kvrivishvili stated.
According to the Minister of Economy, during the Intergovernmental Commission meeting, the strategic cooperation and partnership between Georgia and Armenia were highlighted, with an emphasis on close economic ties. The parties spoke in detail about existing opportunities where there is even greater potential for deepening relations, specifically regarding trade, tourism, transport and logistics, as well as the energy sector.
The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development also noted that within the framework of the meeting, government members from both countries outlined a specific action plan on how to join forces not only in traditional but also in new sectors, as well as in terms of attracting investment.
“It is important that we support businesses operating in our countries, representatives of the large, medium and small private sectors, to develop their business activities in Georgia and the Republic of Armenia. Great attention was also paid to the issue of deepening people-to-people relations and ties, where the tourism industry and, of course, the existing land and air travel between our countries play a major role. Many new initiatives were voiced and planned in this direction as well. We will activate the implementation mechanisms for these together with our friends and colleagues over the coming period” – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development added.
