Mariam Kvrivishvili Discussed Bilateral Trade and Economic Relations with the Ambassador of Qatar

Mariam Kvrivishvili, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, held an introductory meeting with Ali Yusuf Abdulrahman Al-Mulla, the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Georgia.

The Minister congratulated the Qatari Ambassador on the commencement of his diplomatic mission in Georgia and wished him success in his endeavors.

The parties paid special attention to the current situation in the region and emphasized the importance of regional development for deepening bilateral and regional cooperation.

While discussing Georgia-Qatar economic relations, both sides highlighted the enhancement of cooperation in bilateral trade, civil aviation, tourism, agriculture, energy and other sectors.

The Georgian side focused on Georgia’s consultations with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) regarding a Free Trade Agreement and expressed hope that the GCC Council would prepare a report on this matter in the near future.

The sides positively assessed the cooperation in the field of civil aviation. It was noted that the existence of direct flights supports businesses in both countries and fosters deeper people-to-people ties.

The parties agreed to support the holding of a Georgia-Qatar Business Forum in order to bring the business circles of the two countries closer together.
