Mariam Kvrivishvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, met with Peter Andreoli, representative of the US Department of State’s Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, and Alan Purcell, the Acting US Ambassador to Georgia.
The parties discussed the priorities of economic cooperation between the countries, with an emphasis on opportunities for the involvement of US investments in large infrastructure projects and the deepening of trade ties.
Georgian side highlighted Georgia’s interest and optimistic expectations regarding the restoration of the strategic partnership and the ‘reset’ of relations with the USA. It was emphasized that this process will have a positive impact on the further development of economic relations between the two countries.
The parties discussed Georgia’s investment opportunities in strategic sectors such as energy, transport, logistics, and others. Special attention was paid to strengthening Georgia’s role within the Middle Corridor. Focus was placed on large-scale projects such as Georgia’s port infrastructure, railway modernization, and the new Tbilisi International Airport, which, after entering full operation, will significantly increase Georgia’s competitiveness as a key participant in the Middle Corridor.
Mariam Kvrivishvili introduced the US side to the development plans and ongoing progress of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port. The representative of the Department of State personally visited the port construction site, where they were introduced on-site to the state strategy related to the development of the project.
Deputy Ministers of Economy and Sustainable Development, Genadi Arveladze and Tamar Ioseliani also attended the meeting.
