Inga Pkhaladze Highlighted Importance of Just and Inclusive Energy Transition in Georgia’s Sustainable Development Process at Presentation Led by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe

A report presentation titled “Towards a Just Transition Roadmap: For a Sustainable and Carbon-Neutral System for Georgia” was held at the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development. The event opened with a speech by the Deputy Minister of Economy Inga Pkhaladze, where she spoke about the importance of a just and inclusive energy transition in the country’s sustainable development process. 

The presentation of the report was held under the leadership of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). Discussions took place regarding the main findings, conclusions, and recommendations of the report, which are based on an in-depth analysis of Georgia’s policy, institutional environment, and socio-economic situation. Participants highlighted the role of the event as an important platform for dialogue, within the framework of which priorities, existing challenges, and development opportunities for a just energy transition in Georgia were discussed.

Thematic presentations and panel discussions were also held within the scope of the event at the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, which will contribute to the development of a sustainable and carbon-neutral energy system for Georgia.

he event was attended by representatives of state agencies, international organizations, and partner institutions, including: the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Georgia, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the International Labour Organization (ILO), the Energy Community Secretariat, the Business Association, and other stakeholders.
