Tamar Ioseliani, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, opened the first business lounge at Kutaisi International Airport. The project was implemented by the United Airports of Georgia in cooperation with the international company Visa. The new space will allow passengers to spend time comfortably before departure and utilize relevant services.
According to Tamar Ioseliani’s assessment, Kutaisi International Airport is at a new stage of development.
“The development of Kutaisi International Airport is particularly important for us. That is why today we opened a new business lounge, which is naturally tailored to the comfort of our customers and passengers.
During these months, we actively cooperated with our partner company Visa, which invested approximately 1 million GEL in this project. Furthermore, TBC Bank is represented here through TBC Concept. I am delighted that our passengers will have the opportunity to enjoy new, additional, and comfortable services,” – Tamar Ioseliani stated.
As the Deputy Minister noted, Kutaisi International Airport is characterized by growing dynamics. According to her assessment, 2025 was very successful for the aviation sector, with an approximate 14% increase in passenger traffic recorded nationwide, while the number of passengers specifically at Kutaisi Airport grew by about 6%. “The first quarter of 2026 was also successful; despite developments in the region, an approximate 4% growth is observed in passenger traffic,” – Tamar Ioseliani noted.
The business lounge is located in the departure hall of the airport, on the first and second floors, and will serve 70 people simultaneously. Over the next 5 years, the space will be designed according to the Visa concept.
Along with the opening of the business lounge, a Fast Track service was launched at Kutaisi International Airport, which will reduce waiting times during security checks and passport control, thereby improving passenger flow management during peak hours. The service will operate on a self-service principle.
According to the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, aiming at improving of the passenger services at Kutaisi International Airport, an automated border control system was also introduced in 2025, making transit and service at the airport more comfortable and rapid.
“Every year we add new services to ensure that Kutaisi International Airport is much more comfortable and competes with other airports in the region. Creating a passenger-oriented, comfortable environment is of fundamental importance to us. All of this is, of course, also targeted toward high-spending tourists and the business sector, so that we can provide them with corresponding, highest-standard service at Kutaisi Airport,” – Tamar Ioseliani stated.
