“Today is both symbolic and significant, as it clearly demonstrates that the predictable, reliable, and investor-friendly environment established in our country encourages them to undertake such large-scale investments,” – Mariam Kvrivishvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, stated. Together with the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, Kvrivishvili attended the official project presentation of the premium-class hotel and residential complex, Swissôtel Kobuleti Beach Resort, in Kobuleti.
As the Minister noted, the project vividly illustrates the dynamic growth of Georgia’s tourism sector and the strength of its investment climate. Kvrivishvili notes taht the initiative aligns perfectly with the Government of Georgia’s vision to transform Adjara into a year-round tourist destination.
“A 300-million USD investment is a crucial milestone for the Adjara region as a whole. The entry of such a prominent, high-class brand will, in turn, contribute to enhancing Adjara's tourism potential and services, as well as improving the quality of hospitality,” – the Minister of Economy noted.
The Minister further emphasized that the tourism sector plays an exceptional role in the country's economic growth, currently accounting for a 9,5% share of the national economy. In 2025, Georgia generated a record-breaking 4,7 USD billion in revenue from international tourism, while the number of international travelers exceeded 7,8 million.
“The Government of Georgia continues to develop the tourism industry and the results are becoming more evident year after year. The industry achieves record performance annually, which is quite a feat considering how high the competition is. The Georgian government actively promotes investment attraction in the hospitality sector. Since 2015, with state support, over 1,4 billion GEL has been invested in the sector. Under these programs, over 400 accommodation facilities were established, securing over 8500 new jobs in partnership with the private sector” – the Minister stated.
According to Mariam Kvrivishvili, new jobs will be created during both the construction and operational phases of the Swissôtel Kobuleti Beach Resort complex, employing up to 500 locals, which will ultimately have a positive impact on the welfare of our citizens.
“We continue to develop tourism products, infrastructure, and aviation infrastructure alike. I would like to highlight the importance of Batumi International Airport since in the near future, we will have the opportunity to present its further expansion plan to the public. I am confident that this initiative will be of paramount importance and yield highly positive results for the country’s economy as a whole, the tourism sector, and particularly for the Adjara region,” – Mariam Kvrivishvili noted.
A large-scale project will be implemented on the Black Sea coast in Kobuleti through the collaboration of the development company Archi, the internationally experienced developer NEXT, and the world-renowned hotel brand Swissôtel. The project encompasses a top-tier, international-standard hotel and a multi-functional residential complex. The investment value of the project stands at 300 million USD.
A symbolic capsule-laying ceremony was held at the project location, attended by the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili, the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara Zurab Pataradze, project investors and representatives from both the public and private sectors.
