Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, met with members of the Business Association of Georgia (BAG) and representatives of the transport and logistics sector in Batumi.

The conversation focused on the plans and strategy of the Government of Georgia regarding the further development of the transport and logistics sector.

„Dialogue and communication with the private sector are of particular importance to us, and therefore, the Ministry of Economy frequently organizes meetings of this nature. We discussed the development of port infrastructure, railway modernization, and essentially, the historic project that we are implementing within the Georgian Railway. We also addressed road infrastructure, as well as the development of land and aviation transport sectors,” – Mariam Kvrivishvili stated.

According to the assessment of the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, the meeting with the member companies of the Business Association of Georgia was highly productive. The parties discussed issues of significance for both the state and the private sector, including strategic infrastructure projects. Mariam Kvrivishvili informed the meeting participants about the ongoing progress of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port project.

“Through our joint efforts, vision, and shared strategy, we will ensure that cargo flow continuously grows in the country and that Georgia continues to be a reliable partner, particularly in the context of the Middle Corridor. We believe that closer cooperation with the private sector will, once again, increase investments in the transport sector. We are consistently developing key transport infrastructure; we placed special emphasis on the Anaklia Deep Sea Port, noting that active construction is underway for dredging and breakwater infrastructure to ensure that, according to schedule, we receive the first ship at the Anaklia Deep Sea Port in 2029,” – Mariam Kvrivishvili said.

Along with Mariam Kvrivishvili, the Chairman of the Government of Adjara, Zurab Pataradze, and the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Tamar Ioseliani, participated in the meeting with the private sector.
