“The development and success of Anaklia Deep Sea Port depends on a properly planned master plan, which determines the full exploitation of its potential,” – Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Tamar Ioseliani, stated during her current working visit to the Kingdom of the Netherlands. According to Ioseliani, important discussions were held regarding the update of the master plan to ensure that the territory of Anaklia Port is utilized effectively and adapted to market demands.

The Deputy Minister held a meeting with the international consulting firm Port Consultants Rotterdam, during which the parties discussed alternatives for the master plan of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port, as well as defining subsequent steps, identifying potential information gaps and assessing key risks.

“Today we had a meeting with both our consultant working on the update of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port master plan and the company that prepared the detailed design currently being used for construction work at the port to build the relevant breakwater and deepen the depth to 18 meters.

We had very important discussions on how the existing master plan should be updated to ensure that the territory allocated for Anaklia Port is used effectively and fully utilized, and accordingly planned with parameters that guarantee its success and compliance with market demands,” – the Deputy Minister said.

Ivane Abashidze, Director of the Maritime Transport Agency, and Zurab Sichinava, Director of Anaklia Sea Port, were also in the Netherlands on a working visit.
